Public light sculptures to adorn Commerce Street art district
The Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission recently awarded a $50,000 grant for public light sculptures throughout Wichita’s Commerce Street art district near Intrust Bank Arena.
Kansas artists or art teams who would like to help design the light sculptures are invited to submit five images of their previous work, why they are interested in the project and their bios or resumes, according to the district’s website, www.CommerceArtsDistrict.com.
The deadline is Sunday.
The artworks would be designed for outdoors and LED or alternative lighting.
The website says five installations will be selected for the two-block-long district.
Artists will be notified by April 1, and requested final proposals would be due May 11.
