Men in high heels at Wichita State to get campus talking about gender relations
Men will walk in women’s high heels at Wichita State University on Tuesday.
If they dare.
The idea is to get the campus talking about gender relations and men’s sexual violence against women, according to a prepared statement from WSU.
“It’s not easy walking in these shoes,” the statement says. The men will be asked to walk at least a mile.
This is the sixth year for the event, said Nancy Loosle, director of student involvement at WSU. About 100 to 150 people show up, either to walk the walk or cheer the walkers, she said.
The walk will start at 5:30 p.m. on the Rhatigan Student Center east patio.
The event, Walk A Mile In Her Shoes, is being sponsored by WSU’s Interfraternity Council and Student Activities Council.
