Fire damages house on North Spruce

Fire crews battled a blaze Thursday at a house in the 200 block of North Spruce, near Second and Grove.

The fire was reported at the bungalow-style home around 9 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames pouring from its rear, authorities said.

The fire was under control at 9:30 p.m., a Sedgwick County dispatcher said. No one was hurt, she said.

It wasn’t immediately clear what sparked the fire. A damage estimate is pending.
