El Dorado infant dies; man arrested

El Dorado authorities are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a 3-month-old girl Tuesday.

Officers went to a house in the 400 block of North Denver at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday following the report of a child’s death under “suspicious circumstances,” El Dorado Deputy Police Chief Chad Young said.

A man related to the child was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and obstructing law enforcement officers, Young said.

“We do not know a cause or manner of death at this point,” he said in a statement.

An autopsy is being conducted at the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center, and Young said on Wednesday that additional charges may be filed depending on how the child died.
