Vehicle crashes into Kwik Shop sign; two tell police they were being chased

A 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man who said they were being chased early Sunday morning crashed their vehicle into a Kwik Shop sign at Douglas and Volutsia.

They told police they were trying to turn south on Volutsia from Douglas and slid into the Kwik Shop sign, said Sgt. Ed Brower, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

When Wichita police were called to the scene shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, the two men ran into the neighborhood. Officers caught up to them; the men told police a man in a black four-door vehicle was shouting at them. The man fired a gun at them as they were driving on Hillside near Douglas.

No suspect has been arrested, Brower said.
