Structural problems with this year’s Symphony Showhouse have forced tours of the house to be postponed, it was announced Tuesday.

The house at 320 N. Belmont, which was built in the 1920s to replicate an English manor, originally was supposed to be open for tours from May 1 to 16. Designers were to have moved in last week to start redecorating. But while structural work had been done on the house ahead of that, new problems came to light last week, requiring the delay, said Lilly-Ann Huffman, president of the Women’s Association of the Wichita Symphony.

The house, known historically as the R.D.W. Clapp House, belongs to Grant and Janet Rine. The showhouse is a fundraiser for the Women’s Association of the Symphony. New dates for the showhouse will be released as soon as all concerned parties approve them, Huffman said.
