If your child plans to make money by mowing lawns this summer, make sure he or she has the information to be safe and run a good business.

On March 18, during spring break, Sedgwick County Extension Master Gardeners will hold a lawn-mowing clinic for girls and boys in fifth through ninth grades.

Participants will learn about turf grass, mower safety, mower maintenance and the business of lawn mowing. They will take home a packet of information, a certificate of completion and some business cards, ready to start their business.

Two sessions are available — 9 to 11:30 a.m. or 1 to 3:30 p.m. — at the Extension Education Center, 21st Street and Ridge Road. Cost is $8 in advance — register by March 13 — or $10 at the door. Space is limited. To register, visit http://sedgwick.ksu.edu or call 316-660-0100.
