A malfunctioning clothes iron appears to have caused a fire at an Eastborough house, a fire official said.

Wichita fire crews handled the fire, on Highland Road near Douglas and Woodlawn, midday Monday.

The estimated damage amounted to about $50,000 to the structure and $15,000 to contents, said Wichita Battalion Chief Sid Newby.
