Man jailed after forcing girl into car at Wendy’s

A Wichita man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping on Friday after he pushed a girl into a car and drove away against her will, police said.

The man, 18, and girl, 17, argued at about 11:20 a.m. at a Wendy’s restaurant in the 8800 block of West Central, Wichita police Sgt. Wendell Nicholson said.

Eight witnesses in the Wendy’s watched the man force the girl into a car and drive away. She fought him, Nicholson said.

A Wichita police officer, alerted by a 911 call from the restaurant, caught up with the vehicle in the 1700 block of South Meridian, Nicholson said.

The girl, who worked at the restaurant, had scratches from the confrontation but was not treated for injuries.

The man was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping and battery, Nicholson said.
