Quick arrest in robbery of Wichita Presto station

A man who robbed a Presto gas station Saturday was arrested pronto.

Wichita police said a 50-year-old man with a knife walked into the station in the 500 block of North Seneca at 5 a.m. Saturday. He took a purse, money from the register and cigarettes, said Wichita police Sgt. Wendell Nicholson.

The clerk called police after he left. The man ran away, and changed his clothes in the next few minutes, but an officer hearing the man’s description arrested him with the stolen items in his possession, Nicholson said.

The clerk, a 20-year-old woman, and a witness in the store, a man, 26, identified the man as the robber, Nicholson said.

The man was taken to the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery, Nicholson said.
