Wichita man dies in motorcycle crash

File photo

A 30-year-old Wichita man died in a motorcycle crash just southeast of Wichita early Thursday morning.

The crash was reported shortly after 2 a.m. in the 3000 block of East 63rd Street South, said Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Lt. Lin Dehning. That’s near Clifton Avenue.

Evidence from the scene indicated Marcus Franklin was riding west on a black 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle when he failed to negotiate the curve near Clifton and lost control of the motorcycle, Dehning said.

Franklin was thrown into the north ditch from the force of the crash and died later at a hospital. Investigators are still trying to determine why Franklin lost control of his motorcycle, Dehning said.
