Children in grades 3 through 8, are invited to the 2016 Shocks, Cops, Fire and Kids event Saturday at Wichita State University’s Charles Koch Arena at 21st and Hillside.
The event is free and open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Included with the registration is a T-shirt and lunch.
It will include sports activities and workshops with Wichita State student athletes, coaches, law enforcement officers and the Wichita Fire Department.
“I’m not sure at the top of my head how many years, but I know it has been a long time” that the Wichita Police, WSU athletes and Wichita Firefighters have been participating, said Sgt. Nikki Woodrow, spokeswoman for the Wichita Police Department. “It is an amazing event. The kids have a blast. I don’t know who has more fun – law enforcement or the kids. But it is a really good time.”
