A man remained in critical condition at a local hospital Tuesday following a two-vehicle crash in Haysville on Monday afternoon.
The collision happened at 4:09 p.m. Monday at Broadway and Grand, or 71st Street South, Haysville Police Lt. Bob Crites said.
A southbound SUV struck a Crown Victoria that was turning left onto Grand from northbound Broadway, he said. The car's 67-year-old passenger was badly injured when the SUV struck the middle of the car.
Heavy rain was falling at the time of the collision and "the rain was a big factor," Crites said.
Both the passenger and driver of the car were taken to Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus for treatment. The driver was released Tuesday morning.
The crash remains under investigation, Crites said, and no citations have been issued or charges filed.
"I would encourage people to remember that in rainy weather, if they have their windshield wipers on, the law requires them to have their headlights on," Crites said.
