Man shot in both legs when he went to talk with woman

Wichita police are investigating a shooting in which a 27-year-old man was shot in both legs early Sunday morning.

The incident happened in the 500 block of North Madison shortly before 5 a.m., according to Sgt. Joe Kennedy, a spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

The 27-year-old man told police he had gone over to a residence to talk with a 27-year-old woman when a man approached him and started firing shots. The 27-year-old man was shot in both legs and was rushed to Wesley Medical Center.

There was no description of the man who fired the shots, Kennedy said.
