Sedgwick County has now tested 100,000 people for COVID; positive rate back above 5%
There have now been more than 100,000 people tested for the novel coronavirus in Sedgwick County.
The Sedgwick County Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard showed 100,457 people tested as of Thursday, which was a one-day increase of 1,170. There were no new deaths reported, though 81 more people have tested positive.
There have been 8,230 total cases of COVID-19 and 85 deaths attributed to the coronavirus disease since the pandemic hit the county in March.
The positive test rate has gone back above 5%, which is the threshold for early termination of Wichita’s face mask ordinance. The most recent 14-day rolling average from Sedgwick County was 5.12% as of Wednesday. The rate has hovered between 4.75% and 5.75% for about a week.
The 81 new cases included three in the infant to 9-year-old age group, four in 10-17, 17 in 18-24, 13 in 25-34, seven in 35-44, 10 in 45-54, 17 in 55-64, seven in 65-74, two in 75-84 and one in 85 and older.
