Small drop in active cases of COVID-19 accompanies 97 more recoveries in Sedgwick County
Local public health officials reported a small drop in active cases of the coronavirus disease and a big increase in recoveries in the Wichita area.
The Sedgwick County Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard showed nine fewer active cases and 97 more recoveries from COVID-19 on Tuesday. There are now 2,830 active cases with 1,563 recoveries.
The agency reported 88 new cases, bringing the cumulative total to 4,436. No new deaths were reported, keeping the total at 43. Another 559 people have been tested, putting the total at 57,329.
Of the 88 new cases, 71 are still under investigation for the source of exposure to the virus. One case was likely community spread and 16 cases were close contact of other confirmed cases.
There were 13 new cases in the infant to 19-year-old age group. The 20-39 age group added 39 cases, the 40-59 age group has 20 more, the 60-79 age group has 15 more and the 80 and older group has one new case.
The positive test percentage went up for the first time after more than a week of declines. The Monday value was 12.08%, up from 11.46% on Sunday. The rolling 14-day average of the positive test rate had peaked at 13.95% on July 23 and declined every day since until Monday.
