Three more coronavirus deaths and 129 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Sedgwick County
Public health officials reported three more deaths from the coronavirus disease and 129 new cases of COVID-19 in the Wichita area on Sunday.
The Sedgwick County Health Department reported 4,287 total cases of COVID-19. The 129 new cases since Saturday was a percent change of 3.1%. There have been 42 local patients who have died from the disease. The three new deaths was an increase of 7.7%.
There are now 2,809 active coronavirus cases in the county, which is an increase of 112 cases or 4.2%.
The 14 new recoveries brings the total to 1,436. It was a 1% increase.
Another 670 people have been tested, bringing the total to 56,089 with an increase of 1.2% The most recent data on the positive testing rate is from Friday, when the rolling 14-day average was 11.9%.
Of the 129 new cases, 124 are still under investigation for the source of exposure to the virus. The other five cases were close contacts of another confirmed patient, epidemiologists determined.
The infant to 19-year-old age group had 25 of those new cases. The 20-39 age group added 50 cases. The 40-59 age group had 36 new cases. The 60-79 age group added 14 cases. The 80 years old and older age group added four cases.
