Coronavirus update: Sedgwick County has 5 new cases, 1 more recovery, no new deaths
Local public health officials reported five new cases of coronavirus on Sunday, the last day of May.
The Sedgwick County Health Department reported 585 total cases of COVID-19. In addition to the increase of five cases, there was one more patient who recovered and no new deaths since Saturday. No new clusters have been identified.
The Sunday report lists 428 recoveries, 21 deaths and 136 active cases in Sedgwick County. There were 1,101 tests administered in the past day, putting the county’s total at 15,114 tests.
Epidemiologists have determined about 64% of patients had close contact with a confirmed case, about 24% were likely infected through community spread, about 9% of cases are travel-related and about 3% are still under investigation.
Indicators for personal protective equipment and other supplies show a relative shortage of certain supplies for first responders, medical facilities and the county health department. There is less than a three-week supply of medical nitrile gloves and surgical gowns. There is less than a five-week supply of surgical masks. There is more than a five-week supply of N95 masks, Tyvek coveralls and testing materials.
