Coronavirus updates: Nine new cases and no new deaths in Sedgwick County

The Sedgwick County Health Department reports that there have been 573 cases of COVID-19, an increase of nine from Wednesday. There was no change in the county’s death count, which held steady at 21.

Of the total cases, 423 have recovered. A person is considered to have recovered from COVID-19 if symptoms have been gone for three days or if 10 days have passed since symptoms started, whichever is longer.

The county has tested 11,949 people.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports statewide numbers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The latest report listed 205 deaths and 9,337 cases.

There are now 113 clusters in Kansas, 67 of which are active, accounting for 4,883 cases and 138 deaths. That’s 52% of the state’s cases and 67% of its deaths.

Wichita State going online exclusively

The Sunflower, Wichita State University’s student newspaper, reports that WSU’s fall classes will go completely “online or by remote” after the Thanksgiving Break. Last week, WSU announced traditional fall classes would be hybrids of in-person and online.
