Coronavirus updates: After three days of record increases, Kansas sees second-highest jump

New coronavirus numbers in Kansas
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s latest figures show 3,056 confirmed coronavirus cases, up 279 from the day before. After setting records Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, this was the second-highest jump from one day to the next in the last four days.
The death toll statewide increased by six to 117.
Kansas has also had at least 474 hospitalizations and 22,143 negative tests. The infected range in age from infant to 99. The median age is 47 and the mean age is 48.
Sedgwick County showed 333 cases, up from 323 the day before. The Sedgwick County Health Department reported six coronavirus-related deaths as of Saturday afternoon.
Ford County (419 cases) and Seward County (307 cases) saw the largest leaps at 69 and 75. respectively. Together, they accounted for roughly 52 percent of the new cases in the state.
Kansas has received federal support specifically directed to test and help prevent the spread of the coronavirus at meat-packing facilities in both of those counties.
Sedgwick County has a testing rate of 6.46 per 1,000 people. It’s the lowest among counties with 100-plus cases: Finney County has 139 cases (9.87 per 1,000); Ford County with 419 cases (28.85 per 1,000); Johnson County 423 cases (7.74 per 1,000); Leavenworth County 167 cases (13.96 per 1,000); Lyon County 140 cases (14.04 per 1,000); Seward County 307 cases (30.80 per 1,000), and Wyandotte County 555 cases (14.94 per 1,000).

Five COVID-19 cases were identified at the Mel Hambelton Ford car dealership of Wichita.
The Sedgwick County Health Department is asking anyone who visited the business from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 17 or 8 a.m. to noon on April 20 to call the health department at 316-660-7300 or United Way of the Plains at 211. People who visited the business, located at 11625 W. Kellogg Drive, during that time may have been exposed to the virus from an employee.
