Ranking: Real estate is hot in Wichita

Wichita ranked as the 13th best real estate market among 62 large cities in the U.S. in a new report released Tuesday by WalletHub.

Wichita also and ranked 51st overall out of 300 total cities compared in the ranking. Overland Park snagged first in its category of small cities and seventh out of the full 300 cities.

Wichita’s downfall was Affordability and economic environment rank. In general, the West fared well in the ranking, along with parts of the Midwest, ranging down through Oklahoma and Texas.

WalletHub compiled the rankings with various metrics, including: Percent of homes with negative equity, average number of days until a house is sold, median home-price appreciation, foreclosure rates, percent of mortgage holders in delinquency, unsold homes owned by banks, home price as a percent of income and maintenance costs as a percent of income.
