Report: October home sales dip slightly in south-central Kansas
Home sales in south-central Kansas for October fell by nearly 4 percent compared with the same month in 2014, according to a report released Tuesday.
The South Central Kansas Multiple Listing Service said in its regular monthly report that home sales in the area fell 3.6 percent to 802 units, down from 832 sales during October 2014.
During the same month, however, the average sale price for existing homes rose nearly 5 percent to $140,866, according to the release. A total of 763 existing home units sold in October, down slightly from October 2014.
New construction starts dipped to 39 sales in October, down 16 units from the same month last year. According to the report, 756 contracts for sale were written last month.
At the current rate of sales, according to the numbers, the south-central Kansas market has about a 3.7-month supply of homes on the market. A figure representing less than five months of supply generally indicates a seller’s market.
