Thermo King, FMI expanding plants in the Wichita area

Thermo King, a company that installs and repairs refrigeration units for refrigerated trucks, will move to a planned 20,000-square-foot building on Hartman Drive next year.

Construction is set to start in the first quarter.

The building is being developed by Park City Associates LLC and will be leased to Central States Thermo King when it opens in mid- to late-summer, said Michael Fishman of Fishman Commercial Real Estate, which is based in Overland Park. Thermo King is now based at 6350 N. Broadway in Park City

The Park City Council approved $4 million in taxable industrial revenue bonds this week for the project.

Also this week, the council approved $9 million in industrial revenue bonds for FMI, 5615 N. Broadway, a maker of aircraft parts, to expand its plant.

In documents filed with the city, the company said it expected to add 125 more employees over the next 10 years as part of the expansion, said Park City Manager Jack Whitson.
