Dirty Dozen breakfast to highlight Commercial Real Estate Week
A look at Wichita’s Dirty Dozen is among the events planned for Commercial Real Estate Week in Wichita.
The Kansas chapter of Certified Commercial Investment Member has designated April 6-10 as Commercial Real Estate Week and is coordinating four events to mark the occasion.
“It started … as a way to recognize the importance of the professional real estate community,” said Randy Furstenberg, 2015 president of Kansas CCIM and chief financial officer of Vantage Point Properties. “It’s a way of showcasing what we’re about.”
The first official event of the week is a marketing session set for 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Security 1st Title’s new northeast Wichita offices, 2127 N. Collective Lane. Held in conjunction with the Society of Exchange Counselors, the session will include buyers, sellers and investors in commercial real estate, all of whom will be marketing their properties to one another, said Rod Stewart, an SEC member, Kansas CCIM director and managing director of KW Commercial.
The bulk of properties that will be marketed will be in Sedgwick County, Stewart said, but the 35 people expected to attend will include real estate officials from several states including California, Oregon and Texas. The moderator of the marketing session will be Ron Bowden of Indianapolis-based Evergreen Investment Properties.
The marquee event of the week will be what officials are calling the Dirty Dozen Breakfast, set for 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday at the Wichita Country Club, 8501 E. 13th St. The Dirty Dozen is an informal group of a dozen Wichita-based real estate investors who meet monthly to discuss the real estate business.
Three members of the group – Bill Farha, George Laham and Herb Krumsick – will discuss in a panel format what they’ve learned in their careers. “They are 12 Wichitans who’ve made many millions of dollars in real estate,” Stewart said. “They’re a pretty special group.”
Tickets for the breakfast are $25, and registration is required. Register by calling 316-978-3000 or online at realestate.wichita.edu. Seating for the event is limited.
The week will wrap up with a luncheon on April 10 held by Women in Commercial Real Estate and featuring a presentation by Visit Wichita CEO Susie Santo. Santo will talk about new branding initiatives by the convention and visitors organization. The luncheon, at 11:30 a.m. at the Kansas Leadership Center, 325 E. Douglas, costs $20.
