Canadian firm opens Wellington hotel for railroad crews
A Canadian real estate investment trust said it has opened a Wellington hotel serving railroad crews.
American Hotel Income Properties REIT LP said in a news release that it has opened Oak Tree Inn, a 110-room hotel at 1177 E. 16th.
The Vancouver-based company said the $4.7 million hotel is its 38th hotel in the U.S. to serve railroad crews.
It said in the release that it has a 10-year railway contract for the hotel that was “purpose built for a national U.S. railway client.”
BNSF Railway has a large rail yard in Wellington.
“Wellington is a strategic location for AHIP as it extends our 20-year relationship with a key railway client for another decade,” Rob O'Neill, AHIP chief executive, said in the release.
The company said in the release that the hotel also provides lodging for non-rail customers.
