Derby emergency room edges closer to reality

Wesley Healthcare on Tuesday will begin construction of its free-standing emergency room in Derby.

Wesley will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on the construction site, East 63rd South and Rock Road in Derby.

Representatives from Wesley, the city of Derby and Sedgwick County EMS will attend the groundbreaking.

The 11,000-square-foot, $10 million project will include 11 patient rooms, imaging capabilities and an on-site lab.

Wesley estimates that the emergency room will be completed Nov. 1.

Wesley originally hoped to finish the project by summer, but delayed the groundbreaking because of zoning issues and a pipe that ran through the property.
