Area kidney dialysis buildings up for sale, but provider says it is staying
The buildings that house four DaVita dialysis centers in the Wichita area have been listed for sale, but an official of the publicly traded kidney dialysis giant said the sales will not affect its operations here.
The four buildings are 2630 N. Webb and 320 N. Hillside in Wichita, 250 W. Red Powell Dr. in Derby and 1223 Washington Road in Newton, according to a information from Seattle-based real estate brokerage Colliers International.
They are among eight buildings up for sale that are occupied by DaVita. The others are in Independence; Wellington; Edmond, Okla.; and Sherman, Texas.
In all, those eight locations comprise about 42,000 square feet, and are being sold together as “DaVita Dialysis Centers Portfolio.” Colliers isn’t publicy disclosing a sales price for the portfolio of buildings.
DaVita spokesman Vince Hancock said in an e-mail to The Eagle on Thursday that DaVita doesn’t own any of the buildings that are up for sale.
“We are merely the tenant with whom the landlord/owner has leases with,” he said.
DaVita, Hancock added, plans to continue operating the centers regardless of the property sales.
“So the bottom line is that there is no impact at all to patients and we are not exiting the dialysis business at any of these locations,” he said.
Colliers says in a sales brochure of the properties that the owners of the buildings in the DaVita portfolio are “the original developers of each building and consist of nephrologists who utilized many of the buildings in this portfolio when they were in practice.”
According to Sedgwick County property records, the Derby and Webb Road buildings are owned by Triangle LLC, which has a 151 S. Whittier address, and the Hillside building is owned by Hillside Development Partnership, which has an address in Overland Park.
The current appraised value of those properties, according to county records, are: $574,930 for the the Hillside location; $1.21 million for the Webb location; and $533,900 for the Derby location.
DaVita is a Fortune 500 company that operates or provides administrative services at 2,152 outpatient dialysis centers in the U.S.
