4,000 medical masks coming to Wesley from outdoor sporting company

Bass Pro Shops will donate 1 million medical masks, including 4,000 masks to Wesley Medical Center, the company announced this week.

The outdoor sporting company partnered with Convoy of Hope to use its network of partners and volunteers to acquire the FDA-approved ASTM Level 1 Procedure Face Masks. The masks will be donated next week and will be distributed in more than 200 communities based on need.

Wesley has required everyone entering its facilities to wear a mask since March 31.

“Wesley Healthcare is grateful for the support and donations we continue to receive from community businesses and local residents as we respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are particularly thankful for the donation of personal protective equipment (PPE), as it continues to be in short supply worldwide,” Wesley director of marketing Dave Stewart said in an email. “While we feel we have an adequate supply at this time, we always welcome additional PPE supplies to ensure that we can continue to serve our community safely.”

Bass Pro Shops partner and True Timber CEO Rusty Sellars will source the masks through a supplier of his, according to the Bass Pro Shops news release. The donations will be made in more than 200 communities with Bass Pro Shops or its sister company Cabela’s, a boat center, distribution center or White River Marine Group manufacturing facility, the company said.

“We are extremely grateful to our nation’s healthcare workers serving on the frontlines of this unprecedented global health crisis,” Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris said in the release. “These heroic men and women continue to dedicate their lives to save the loved ones of others, and we are all honored to support them on behalf of everyone at Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s, and the communities we serve.”
