Kansas hospital, citing suspected coronavirus case, cancels surgery center grand opening

A Kansas hospital has canceled the grand opening for its new surgery center after a suspected case of coronavirus was discovered in its county.

William Newton Hospital in Winfield said in a Facebook post on Sunday that there is a suspected case of coronavirus, or COVID-19, in Cowley County. The case is being tested. The hospital said there is also a patient in Wichita who meets the criteria for the virus in addition to a confirmed case in Johnson County.

The hospital canceled the grand opening of the new surgery center, which was scheduled for Sunday, to limit possible exposure to coronavirus.
