Wesley parent company to acquire software firm

The parent of Wesley Medical Center and Galichia Heart Hospital is acquiring a software company.

HCA said Tuesday it signed an agreement to purchase PatientKeeper, a privately held provider of software and mobile applications used by physicians.

The Nashville, Tenn.-based company said in a news release that for the past seven years physicians have been using PatientKeeper software to access patients’ information across different hospital systems.

HCA said the acquisition will help in its continued development of electronic health records and physician interaction with HCA systems.

“It gives us important influence in the layer of the electronic record that the doctor sees, creating an innovative platform for workflow improvement,” said Jim Jirjis, HCA’s chief health information officer, in the release.

The acquisition is expected to close later this year, HCA said. PatientKeeper, which has its headquarters in Massachusetts, will become a subsidiary of HCA once the deal closes.

The companies did not disclose financial terms of the acquisition.
