What’s the best hospital in Kansas?
The University of Kansas Hospital tops the Kansas charts in national rankings and high performance, according to U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Regional Hospitals Rankings.”
Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka ranked second in the state.
The University of Kansas Hospital received its place on the list by being nationally ranked in eight specialties — cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, pulmonology and urology — and listed as high performing in seven procedures.
Stormont Vail was high performing in five procedures.
Hospitals in Wichita were not ranked, but several were noted as high performing in a procedure or condition.
Via Christi Hospital St. Francis was listed as high performing in colon cancer surgery, while Wesley Medical Center was noted as high performing in heart bypass surgery. Kansas Spine and Specialty Hospital received the ranking in knee replacement, while Kansas Surgery and Recovery Center was high performing in both hip and knee replacement.
