New heart, surgery center planned for northeast Wichita

A group of local physicians are planning to open a new heart and surgery center in northeast Wichita next spring.

Epic Heart Center Surgery Center will be located near 35th and Webb and offer outpatient surgical services, as well as the services of a full-service heart catheterization lab, said Barry Reynolds, CEO of Heartland Cardiology.

Reynolds said Heartland physicians are involved in the Epic project but that it is “completely independent” of the cardiology practice group.

He said that all of the physician-partners in the project are from the Wichita area.

The center will be in about 8,000 square feet of space. Key Construction is the primary construction contractor, and architect for the project is WDM Architects.

A groundbreaking has been set for March 13. Construction is expected to be completed in spring 2016.
