Wichita to get a new emergency room

Kansas Medical Center announced plans to build a 24-hour emergency department in northeast Wichita, at 21st and Webb.

Kansas Medical Center said in a news release that it plans to open the facility with Emergency Services Professional Association, which will staff the emergency room, and East Wichita Properties, which will build and own the facility.

The release said the emergency department should open in fall or winter of 2017.
