Not quite five years after opening, the Lakeside Club has closed.

“The management wishes to thank each member for their involvement in the Club,” owner Wink Hartman Sr. said in a statement.

“The Hartman Group of Companies continually adjusts its asset base and has an opportunity to re-purpose the building. We expect to make an announcement on the future of the location in the coming months.”

Hartman opened the private club in 2012 to provide what he called “a country club atmosphere that doesn’t include a pool, tennis or golf.”

Before that, he had a restaurant, Bella Donna, in the space.

The building sits back from Webb Road just south of 21st Street.

It started as Garozzo’s Ristorante under another owner.

Also in the statement, Hartman said he and his companies will focus “on Hartman Oil Co., Vintage Bank Kansas, Hartman Arena, Chester’s Chophouse and their continued growth. Also there is a new Jimmy’s Egg under construction and several new Jimmy’s Egg locations on the drawing board.”

The new Jimmy’s Egg, which will open in 3,750 square feet at the northeast corner of Central and Webb, is the sixth Wichita-area Jimmy’s Egg for Hartman and Morrie Sheets. They expect to open it by late this year or early 2017.

Co-owner Erin Edwards shares details on the new restaurant at Cambridge Market at 21st and Webb Road.
