Only a couple of months after losing Denim & Diamonds, Towne West Square has a new tenant for the club’s former space.

The Wichita Ballroom, which is near Kellogg and West Street, has to move to make room for some road work, so the owner is relocating the business to the mall and likely renaming it.

“Towne West Square is excited to announce that Wichita Ballroom will open here this Spring,” mall general manger Shane McWhorter said in a statement.

While the Wichita Ballroom has mostly been host to Mexican bands, the new venue will include those and much more. There will be an emphasis on country acts as well as some occasional rock acts.

The space will undergo substantial remodeling. Walls and offices will be torn down to make room for up to 1,600 guests.

There also will be a lot more bathrooms to meet the demand of more people.

It looks like the business will open in May.

McWhorter said the venue will add a lot to Towne West.

“This dynamic entertainment venue is the perfect complement to our celebrated retail, dining and entertainment offerings.”
