Along with the new Norc at the University of Chicago call center that is coming to New Leaf Plaza at 21st and Amidon, the new Cell Phone Hospital is opening as well.

This is the Tulsa-based company’s first venture in Kansas.

Owner Alex Fernandez has family here. He also has three stores in Tulsa.

“The hook to the whole business is repair,” says David Rivas, who works for the chain.

The store repairs phones and accessories and also buys phones as well.

Krista Racine and Leisa Lowry of J.P. Weigand & Sons handled the deal. They’re also leasing agents for the center and were involved in the Norc deal as well.

The Hospital should open within the next 60 days. Rivas says more of the stores are possible for Kansas in the future.
