Verizon Wireless is relocating its store at 4800 W. Kellogg near Towne West Square to 636 S. West St. near the northeast corner of Kellogg and West.
The new 7,000-square-foot store will be built as the company’s third Verizon Smart Store in the market.
“It’s meant to be an experience for the customer,” says spokeswoman Meagan Dorsch. “The store is set up in zones according to lifestyles.”
There’s a get-fit zone with fitness accessories, such as Fitbits.
There’s an amplify zone for products such as Bluetooth speakers and headphones.
A home and on-the-go zone has devices for home monitoring and energy management.
A fourth zone is all about power and accessories designed for charging.
“It makes it very easy for our customers to come in and think about what they need and go directly to that zone and find it,” Dorsch says.
The new store also will have a wireless workshop area for in-store classes, which are free for Verizon customers and anyone else who wants to learn about a device.
Verizon’s other Smart Stores are in NewMarket Square at 21st and Maize Road and Tallgrass Centre near the southwest corner of 21st and Rock Road.
Verizon, which has four corporate stores in the greater Wichita area along with five stores operated by indirect partners, is in the process of converting its 1,700 retail sites nationally into Smart Stores.
The new west Wichita store most likely will open in the second quarter of next year. Look for more information then, including a video preview of the store.
