As of 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, Wichita Uber passengers can now schedule their rides for the car service.
Uber driver Teajai Kimsey, who also is a self-described internet marketing maven, says she and other Uber drivers have been working to increase Uber rides in the area through Wichita Area Rideshare Partners.
“We really don’t have a huge presence,” she says of Uber drivers.
Late last week, Kimsey says she saw an article on UZURV (yoo-zurv), a Virginia-based technology start-up that has a reservation app that can be used with Uber.

“Hey,” Kimsey says she wrote to UZURV, “we’re a little city, would you come?”
The company responded that it would if there were enough interested drivers to participate. UZURV said it could be in the area by Friday, but the drivers got together and made it happen even more quickly.
“We’re that motivated,” Kimsey says.
Drivers and riders each have to pay 99 cents for the service.
Kimsey says it’s “the cost of having exactly what you want when you want it.”
In addition to being able to now schedule Uber services up to two weeks in advance, Kimsey says users can choose their favorite Uber drivers as well. She says that leads to more amenities for riders, who can select drivers with cars they like or who offer extras such as beverages, snacks or phone chargers.
“It’s not just a reservation,” Kimsey says, “but it’s also a choice.”
