It appears Wichita’s two Gessler Drug Co. stores have permanently closed.
Westlink management confirms that the store’s lease was up at the center at Central and Tyler, and the owner gave notice of his departure.
Management of the center where Gessler has been at 4817 E. Douglas, next to Il Vicino, could not be reached for comment, nor could Gessler owner Hal Schwarz.
There’s paper covering windows and doors and signs notifying customers that their prescriptions can now be found at Walgreens.

A recording at the east-side Gessler directs customers to call the Walgreens at 13th and Woodlawn, and customers who call the Gessler at Westlink are directed to call the Walgreens at Central and Maize Road.
Though those are the closest Walgreens stores to the closed Gessler stores, it looks like Gessler customers can fill their prescriptions at any Walgreens.
