There’s a new 34,841-square-foot building coming to East 21st just east of the 21st and Webb Road intersection, but no one is too eager to talk about it yet.
According to city documents, the Opti-Life Center will be a $5.5 million building on the north side of the street. There are development application signs at the property.
George Sorensen Jr. is one of the people associated with the project. His LinkedIn profile shows that he’s worked in the health and wellness field in the Tampa area, including as an executive director of a YMCA.
His page currently says, “Working to open a new comprehensive health and wellness center in Wichita, Kansas.” It also shows a rendering for a two-story building called the Opti-Life Center.

Various job sites have postings for positions at Opti-Life, including a fitness manager to oversee the facility, a membership sales manager and Pilates instructors.
The sites say:
“Set to open in 2016, the Opti-Life Center will be the premiere full service health and wellness center in Wichita. The center will set the standard for customer hospitality, state of the art amenities, and cutting edge programming. Opti-Life will employ a group of like-minded individuals dedicated to delivering the center’s vision to Inspire, Empower and Transform through an engaged, community-based membership approach.”
It looks like Wichita-based Physicians Development Group may be a part of the center as well, but several calls to the group have not been returned.
City documents list Hutton Construction as the contractor.
Look for more information as it becomes available.
