The new Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Store at the Plazzio development at 13th and Greenwich opens at 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Have You Heard? first reported that the market would be coming last summer.
“It’s fairly quick,” spokeswoman Amanda Beuchaw says of the construction time, “just with all the red tape we have to go through.”
She says opening before summer was important to the chain, which has 281 stores, including 28 in Kansas.
Beuchaw says the almost 6,000-square-foot Plazzio store will be a bit more upscale than other Braum’s outlets around Wichita.
There will be a double drive-through and seating inside for about 80 people in the grill area.
There’s also a market area with meat, fruit, vegetables and dairy products.
Braum’s will have a grand opening celebration April 11 to 17 with a drawing for gift cards.
Initially, store hours are 6 a.m. to 10:45 p.m., though that could change with the seasons.
