Tampa-based RNR Tire Express is making its first venture into Kansas with franchise rent-to-own tire and wheel stores in Wichita and Hutchinson.
“We’re developing Kansas because we see that … it’s a market that has done really well for other rent-to-own companies,” says franchisee Tim Daniel, who is opening the businesses with Geron Vail.
The two are based in Arkansas, and Daniel now has a residence here, too.
He says they plan 13 RNR stores for Kansas.
Vail already is a partner in 15 other RNR stores in Arkansas, Louisiana and Missouri.
Daniel has worked extensively with the Aaron’s rent-to-own chain.
“It’s exactly the same thing, just with a different product,” he says of RNR. “We rent or lease sets of tires and wheels.”
The Wichita store will open at the southwest corner of Douglas and West in the first couple of weeks of April.
The Hutchinson store will open 90 to 120 days later at 302 W. 30th Ave.
Two more Wichita stores likely will follow on the south side and near Harry and Rock Road.
RNR started in 1999 and began franchising in 2003. It has about 80 stores in 22 states.
Vince Ficarrotta, vice president of franchise development, says RNR’s in-house financing sets the chain apart.
“The need for cash or available credit is eliminated through our program,” he says. “We make it very easy for a family that needs good, quality tires … with very little out of pocket.”
He says the company’s motto is, “You’ve got options.”
“It’s a very flexible program,” Ficarrotta says. “That’s the thing that makes RNR very unique.”
