It’s another day, so that means – not surprisingly – another new QuikTrip project.

This time, the Tulsa chain is looking to replace its store at the southeast corner of 31st and Seneca with one of its newer Generation 3 concepts.

“We have desire again to do another scrape-and-build there,” says spokesman Mike Thornbrugh.

“It’s kind of at the very beginning of development.”

Thornbrugh says QuikTrip is trying to buy nearby property to facilitate the expansion, but he says he doesn’t think a deal has closed.

“We’d like to, is what we’re saying.”

There’s a bigger goal, he says.

“At the end of the day, Wichita’s going to look like a brand-new division for QuikTrip,” Thornbrugh says. “That’s our hopes.”

Though the new projects keep coming, he says the overall goal is still quite a work in progress.

“It’ll take us a long time to do that, and we know it.”
