Not quite half a year after buying Twizted Confections, Carmen Whiteaker has closed the bakery at Normandie Center at Central and Woodlawn.
“I wanted to give it a try for my son to become the owner,” Whiteaker says of her son, Chris.
“He liked the business a lot, but he’s not ready … yet to take the big task,” she says. “And the job is a little more than what I expected for myself.”
Whiteaker says her son is interested in opening a bierock business down the road and will keep us posted.

She says she feels sad about closing because of her customers.
“I would like to thank everybody,” she said.
However, Whiteaker isn’t too upset about letting the time-consuming business go.
“I’m going to relax for a while and have a good time.”
