Bruce and Macaela Harris tried something new for their latest billboard advertisement for their One Day Jewelry & Repair, and they say it’s paying off.

“This was a little bit scary at first,” Macaela Harris says of the ad, which at first glance appears to feature a woman flipping off passersby.

Harris says people drive by and say, “What the heck was that?”

The woman actually is holding up her ring finger, and the copy says, “She’s tired of waiting.”

Harris says she found the ad elsewhere and borrowed the idea.

“This is the fun we have in our marketing meetings.”

The woman in the ad is Marianna Hulikova, an exchange student from Prague who is living with the Harrises.

Macaela Harris says people have been smiling at Hulikova about the ad and stopping her to comment.

“Oh, it’s been interesting,” Harris says. “We had a lot of fun with it.”

Bruce Harris says, “Our Facebook has been blowing up because of it.”

The one-month campaign, which also features radio commercials aimed at men, runs through Valentine’s Day.

Macaela Harris says the ad “is more playful and fun” than most they’ve done.

“I think it inspires us,” she says. “It inspires us to rethink some of our other marketing.”
