College Hill Creamery is keeping its name, but owners Ryan and Stephanie Nall will have a new focus when they reopen on Jan. 27.
The two, who purchased the Clifton Square business at 3700 E. Douglas last summer, closed in late November for renovations.
“Mainly because we were converting it from an ice cream shop that serves coffee to a coffee shop that serves ice cream,” Ryan Nall says.
The former Lawrence residents missed coffee shops from there, he says, especially certain kinds of coffee and pastries.

“We missed a lot of our favorites.”
Nall says the owner of Milton’s Cafe in Lawrence shared his blueberry scone recipe and helped him with some coffee he used to drink there.
The Creamery, as Nall and most everyone else seems to call it, also will sell baked goods such as cakes, brownies, cookies and caramelized Belgian waffles from the the Waffle Wagon.
Nall says he’s working with Reverie Coffee Roasters to sell some of its coffee, too.
The Nalls have doubled the Creamery’s seating to about 30 seats.
Ryan Nall says he and his wife will listen to customers about what they may want at the Creamery.
“We want to get to know our customers.”
He says the Creamery is about community.
“We really love people.”
