Downtown building remodels to attract tenants

There’s been a metal building at 145 N. Wabash near First and Washington for a long time that’s now undergoing remodeling.

“We’re just kind of preparing it,” says Troy Farha of NAI Martens.

He and Bradley Tidemann of J.P. Weigand & Sons are trying to lease the 9,400-square-foot building to a tenant or two.

“A lot of times people can’t necessarily see what it’ll look like,” he says of a simple box.

“We basically just gutted the interior,” Farha says. Now, he says, “We’re starting to work on the retail storefront that you can see.”

He says he thinks the space “could be a really neat restaurant for somebody.”

“We’ve got a little area for a patio facing west.”

Regardless of who leases the space, Farha thinks the remodeling will help.

“We think it’ll lease a little quicker that way.”
