Chips Poker Room opens in advance of Blarney Stone

The first phase of the new Blarney Stone Irish Pub and Sports Bar opens at 6 p.m. on Friday in Brittany Center at 21st and Woodlawn.

Chips Poker Room, which is separate from where the main bar will be, will open for games, food and alcohol.

Steve Peters says he and business partner Michelle Lindgren are opening in phases “so we can kind of wade into it a little bit easier.”

“I want to make certain that every customer that comes in there has a great experience,” he says.

The full bar, which will be a combination Irish pub and sports bar, will open on Feb. 1. It’s in the former east-side Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill space.

Peters says he and Lindgren have done extensive remodeling.

“Everything we could dress up, we did,” he says. “It was kind of like remodeling an old house. It’s kind of a Pandora’s box of stuff.”

As this video shows, the new poker room is ready, and the bar is still being remodeled.
