A year after opening their first uBreakiFix franchise, business partners Bill Ramsey, Bryson Butts and David Hensley have signed a deal for their second store in the Derby Marketplace.

“It just seemed a logical place for us to move to,” Ramsey says.

“It’s a very fast-growing community.”

He says the approximately 1,000-square-foot store should open by late February next to the new Chipotle in Derby Marketplace, which is at at North Rock Road and East Tall Tree Road.

“March 1st at the latest, I hope.”

The NewMarket store opened in November 2014. Ramsey says it has done “gangbusters.”

“It’s done really, really well.”

This November, Ramsey says the store broke all of its previous sales records.

“It was crazy.”

Ramsey says the store fixes “a little bit of everything, but mainly smartphones and tablets.”

It also repairs gaming consoles and computers.

Ramsey says he thinks the business is doing well in part because kids don’t take great care of electronics and also because insurance is getting more expensive. He says it’s generally cheaper and faster to repair something as well.

Now, Ramsey says he’s eyeing northeast Wichita for the next store.

“I’ve kind of been poking around out there.”

That’s the priority, he says, but downtown is a possibility one day as well.

“It is on our radar.”

Ramsey says the plan is to expand around the state and then beyond Kansas.

“For now, we’re just trying to get the Wichita area nailed down.”
