Lawyers Lynnette Herrman and Monica Cameron have shared office space since June, and now the two are merging their practices to form Cameron & Herrman on Jan. 1.
“There’s a lot that comes with becoming a firm,” Herrman says. “Growing as a solo practitioner is a little bit harder.”
Cameron practices family law exclusively.
Herrman practices family law, child in need of care, adoption, guardianship and personal injury.
Attorney Jason McIlrath has been working for Herrman and Cameron separately and will join the new firm as an associate.
Cameron and Herrman are looking to hire a second associate attorney and a third legal assistant as well.
“We look forward to growing and expanding … the firm,” Herrman says.
She says their practice areas complement each other but they want to expand those areas as well.
By joining together, Herrman says that “you can offer more complete services to your clients.”
They’re also looking to expand their space at 1020 N. Main St.
Herrman was at Beall & Mitchell before going on her own this summer.
Cameron has been a sole practitioner since 2010. She and Herrman used to work in the District Attorney’s office together before that.
There’s not a certain size that the two want the new firm to be, Cameron says.
“As big as it can get,” she says. “We don’t really have a limit in mind.”
